Nashville has always been one of the favorite places of tourists. Known to many as the Music City, Nashville offers a lot of great opportunities for an unforgettable vacation. Every year, 6 million tourists are traveling to the place to explore the city's scenic hills and large farmlands.
There are other music tourist attractions in Nashville. The most famous is the Grand Ole Opry in the East. The Opry presents shows weekly. The Ryman Auditorium on 5th Avenue is another place to see. It is also a well-known venue for concerts and other live events. It used to be the home of the Grand Ole Opry. While in 5th Avenue, also drop by the Country Music Hall of Fame. It showcases so many exhibits on the history and impact of country music on Nashville.
The West End of Nashville is the music row. Every major recording label in the US has their offices here. If you are fond of nightlife, the Elliston Place Rock Block is the one for you. This is the home of the six loudest nightclubs in the city. This is where you can party and listen to the greatest country music until the wee hours of the night.
You can also find the Vanderbilt University at the West End. This is the alma mater of former vice president Al Gore. At the south of the city is Brentwood, the place where the rich live. This is also where many corporations have been relocating for the past ten years. Brentwood offers the best shopping in the city as it has two large shopping malls and a number of factory outlets.
If you are looking for a family attraction, Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is one of the best. It features a giant playground called Jungle Gym. Kids can also visit the Adventure Science Center. It provides a lot of fun hands-on exhibits for the children to enjoy. Another interesting family attraction is the Parthenon. It is a replica of the Greek Parthenon in Athens. It was built in 1897 for Nashville's Centennial Exhibition. It was remodeled in 1920's. It serves as the city's art museum. It is located at the Centennial Park.
There are also shopping centers and Malls where you can buy various souvenir items and one of these is Music Valley Village. This place provides a nice shopping experience especially for those who are into traditional Nashville outfits. The 8th Avenue Antique District is the location of a lot of unique antique shops. This is the perfect place for antique collectors. If you are looking for affordable antique items, you can visit the Goodlettsville Antique Community. It has 8 malls and shops offering antique items in affordable price. On the other hand, the 12th Avenue South provides shoppers with trendier items.
Music City also features some of its major annual events. The Gospel Music Association Dove Awards are held in various locations every April. Each June, the CMA Music Festival is taking place. It is a four day event featuring Performances by country music stars. Every September, the Tennessee state Fair is being held. People flood the State Fairground to watch various attractions such as rides, exhibits, rodeos, tractor pulls and many other shows.
The State Fair lasts for nine days. The Nashville Film Festival, happening every April, is another major annual event in the city and one of the biggest film festivals in the southern part of the country. It showcases 100 independent films for one week. Other notable big events in Nashville are the African Street Festival, Country Music Marathon, Tomato Art Festival and Australian Festival.
